The Stags Leap District sub-appellation begins seven miles north of the town of Napa, on the Silverado Trail. Its northern boundary is drawn by the Yountville Cross Road. Barely a mile wide and three miles long, the District is bounded by rocky hillsides to the east and the Napa River to the west. A jagged outcropping of towering palisades and the legend of a nimble stag inspired the Stags Leap name over 100 years ago. As one of Napa Valley's smallest appellations, visitors can navigate easily through the District and sample our world-renown wines.
