Stags Leap District Winegrowers: A Collaboration

Tasting Notes

The 2021 growing season was a prime example of why Napa Valley is such a great place to grow grapes, and while the yields were below average, from a quality standpoint, it was a vintage year. This one-of-a-kind wine is a brilliant case in point, grabbing your attention from first whiff. Raspberry cola, earth and caramel are ensconced in undulating wafts of roast coffee and baking spice. Smooth and round upon entry, with a hint of blackcap raspberry, there is a powdered sugar tannin profile that starts early and extends out long into the finish. Notes of cherry cordial and cocoa powder transform into those of poached plum and espresso as the wine softly echoes on the palate. This wine is a powerhouse now and will benefit from multiple decades of proper cellar aging.
