Stags' Leap Winery

Located seven miles north of the town of Napa, in a micro-valley within Napa Valley, lies the century-old 240 acre estate known as Stags' Leap: a place of natural beauty, storied buildings and gardens, a lively history, and a reputation for elegant wines. Established in 1893 and recently restored to preserve its historical integrity and charm, Stags' Leap Winery continues a proud winemaking heritage in the prestigious appellation that bears the winery name. Framed by the dramatic palisades to the east, the estate is planted to 90 acres of vineyards — divided into 23 blocks that perfectly match each grape variety with its ideal soil type. Stags' Leap is most often recognized for its iconic Ne Cede Malis Petit Sirah, produced from a traditional field blend with vines dating back to 1929 and as the estate's oldest vineyard contains a mix of at least 16 other varieties. Additionally, Cabernet Sauvignon is synonymous with the Stags Leap District and has always been a mainstay in the winemaking program at Stags' Leap Winery. As one of California's earliest wine estates, its unique terroir, ideal microclimate, and tradition of stewardship supports a classical standard of viticulture, land use, and winemaking that is relevant today as it was over a century ago. Led by Winemaker Christophe Paubert whose dedication to the terroir of this estate reveals itself in his application of traditional winemaking techniques, the wines tell the story of the land on which they are grown by expressing the unique characteristics and complexity of Stags' Leap.
