Gratitude
For over two decades the Stags Leap District Winegrowers proudly released its limited Appellation Collection, a luxury set of cabernet sauvignons, comprised of one bottle each from of our sixteen vintner members. The latest release in October 2022 was the 2019 vintage, which sold out quickly. Online tasting notes for those wines along with several vintages prior can be found to the left side of this page. Unfortunately sweeping fires in 2020 damaged much of the Napa Valley vintage leaving our vintners without precious and worthy Stags Leap District grapes. Many of our vintners opted to pass on creating a 2020 cabernet. Consequently, the Association will not be releasing a 2020 Collection either.
But out of lemons comes lemonade! With a goal of sharing the best the appellation can offer, our neighborhood rallied to bring our avid customers and enthusiasts another one-of-a kind offering — an AVA inaugural Cabernet Sauvignon — a blend of sixteen of the best individual lots from each of our vintners. These prestigious lots were blended into a beauty of a wine by a veteran winemaking team reflecting all the hallmark characteristics of Stags Leap District's cabernets: forward fruit, bright acidity, gracefully soft tannins and a lush, textural mouthfeel.
With a special label created to reflect the "power and grace" of our cabernets, a 16-point rack represents each individual participant while signifying that we are ultimately stronger together! We are thrilled to release the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon: A Collaboration.
